🚗 NAVIGATING THE SHIFTING ROAD OF AUTO INSURANCE RATES

Lately, we have some welcome news to share regarding auto insurance: the overall frequency of accidents and the general cost of vehicle repairs have finally begun to stabilize across the board.
However, there is a secondary trend we are watching closely. Following California’s legislative decision to double the state's minimum liability limits, the industry has seen a sharp, unexpected rise in overall injury claim costs. Industry experts note that higher available coverage limits can create a ripple effect, sometimes leading to a higher volume of reported injuries and inflated claims that exceed the actual medical care required.
Ultimately, these rising costs don't just stay with the insurance carriers…they directly impact the premiums paid by you and me. As an agency, seeing this trend continue is tough. We know firsthand how the rate increases over the past five years have put financial pressure on our clients, and we share the frustration.
While we hope to see carriers and the State find future opportunities to counter this trend, there are a few practical ways you can protect yourself and your policy right now:
Invest in a Dashcam: A dashcam is the ultimate, objective truth-teller. It ensures you aren’t wrongfully blamed for an accident, and it provides an indisputable record of the actual severity of an impact…preventing unjust injury claims later.
Document the Scene Thoroughly: If you are involved in a minor fender-bender, take a moment to safely note the facts. Take clear photos of the damage, the license plates, and specifically capture how many passengers are inside the other vehicle to prevent "phantom" claims later.
We expect this issue to continue to evolve, and we will keep doing everything we can on our end to minimize how these industry rate shifts affect you. If you have any questions or want to review your policy, please feel free to visit our office in Bell Gardens or call us at (323) 773-4429.
