🗓️ CELEBRATING NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH…BOTH PERSONALLY AND AS A COUNTRY

October 15 marks the end of National Hispanic Heritage Month, and I want to take a moment to share what this means to me personally.
I am so proud of my Latino heritage. Growing up in this culture has truly enriched my life, instilling core values that shape everything I do…especially the importance of family, traditions and hard work. It connects me to a diverse and quite resilient community that I am not only proud to be a part of but also honored to serve here in Southeast Los Angeles with InVision Insurance.
To celebrate the impact of the Latino community across the US, I wanted to share three really interesting contributions that helped shape modern American life:
Saving Newborn Lives:Â Dr. Helen RodrĂguez TrĂas, a pioneering pediatrician and activist, expanded healthcare access for women and children in minority communities and helped establish national standards for newborn care that has saved countless lives.
Revolutionizing Home Entertainment: In 1950's, Mexican-American inventor Robert Adler revolutionized how we watch TV by inventing the first practical wireless remote control!
Championing the Rights of Workers: Civil rights leader Dolores Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers (UFW) right here in California and coined the iconic phrase "¡SĂ, se puede!" Her relentless fight for fair wages and safer working conditions raised the bar for how ALL workers across America are treated today.
Despite the divisions and negativity we sometimes see out there, we live in a great country…one made stronger by the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of its people. I am proud to be Latino, and I am deeply proud of the contributions our community has made historically and we continue to make every single day.
