People often ask why I invest so much time into these monthly updates. Honestly? I enjoy it (I know, I’m a bit of a nerd that way). But there are also some important business benefits to the newsletter including:

  • Education: Knowledge is the best insurance. When a customer learns about things like Uninsured Motorist coverage before an accident, it prevents a bad experience later. Surprises are usually not good with insurance.

  • Engagement: In a crowded industry, I want to stand out. I love getting your feedback…it proves people are reading and that InVision is more than just a logo. It’s about building a real relationship.

  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization): If you Google “No Broker fee car insurance,” InVision is the #1 result. Why? One of the reasons is that Google sees these newsletters on our blog and social media. It recognizes that we are continually providing actual value, so they prioritize us when people are looking for a quality insurance agency.

Thinking of Starting Your Own?

You don’t need to be a professional writer; you just need something interesting to say. If you’re considering a newsletter for your own business, here are my top three rules:

  1. Keep it Human: Don’t let AI write for you. People can spot a "robot,” and frankly, so can Google (for SEO). I use AI as a proofreader to keep me clear and engaging, but the voice and ideas are mine.

  2. Add Value, Don't Just Sell: To borrow from Field of Dreams: "If you make it interesting, they will read." If you're too "salesy," people will tune out. Focus on giving the reader something they like…the business benefits will follow.

  3. Keep it Brief: We all have too much to read and too little time. Keep it simple and easy to read.

Curious about the process? If you’re thinking about launching your own newsletter and want to swap ideas, feel free to drop me a line. I’d love to share what I’ve learned!
