It is not unusual for customers to customize their cars like installing rims/stereo system, or even going as far as adding a wheelchair lift to a van. These changes are typically not covered by insurance companies because their rates are based on how a car was manufactured…and not what was added. However, you can usually let the insurance company know about these modifications, and for an additional cost, they can be added to your car insurance.
