A DIFFERENT KIND OF PIZZA IN OUR COMMUNITY

Lena Ardiendo Pizzeria in Cudahy is a different pizzeria in our community. I originally met the owner Don Esteban because he needed business insurance. But as I learned about his restaurant, I was intrigued by how different they are from other pizza places. For example, they cook their pizzas using a wood-fire oven to give it a unique “napolitan” taste. But to Don Esteban, that is one aspect of his pizzeria.  He tells me that everything his restaurant does is focused on making a high quality pizza for a Latino community that cares about its food. It’s also interesting to see how Don Esteban found ways to connect his business with his roots. As he told me, he remembers growing up in Mexico around a lot of wood-fire cooking and so doing the same in his restaurant just made sense to him.
