If you like spicy food, and I mean spicy food, I recommend trying my aunt Maria Elena’s habanero salsa. It’s incredibly simple and comes directly from the Yucatan.
Get around 15 habanero peppers and grill them in a pan until they are semi-toasted
Blend the peppers along with a garlic clove and ¼ to ⅓ cup of vinegar (or lemon juice)
Put in a container and add salt. Add a teaspoon of olive oil to preserve it longer.
WARNING: This salsa can make you sweat…but for those like my wife and I that like a little kick in their dishes, it’s one of our favorite salsas.
