Many insurance companies from the US do not cover at all once you cross the border and the Mexican government does not consider any US based insurance company as valid. So even if you have insurance from here, you could still face legal problems with police, especially if an accident occurs, and you may have to pay for any incident yourself. We recommend purchasing “Mexican Insurance” that offers an insurance policy that would be accepted by Mexican officials.
